With January coming to an end, I am reflecting back on the month with my Whole 30 and my fitness routine. I will do a recap of my Whole 30 once it is complete, but for now I wanted to focus on workouts.
I usually workout 5-6 days a week with varying activities. I like to mix it up each day or I tend to get bored. Lately, I have been lifting both upper and lower body 2x per week and adding one steady state cardio session (usually a long run) and one High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. I am not a huge fan of cardio, but still like to test my endurance a few times a week.
Monday: weight training lower body
Tuesday: weight training upper body
Wednesday: steady state cardio and ab circuit (usually I go for a run on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes) or depending on how sore I am or my sleep for the week, I might rest this day too.
Thursday: weight training lower body
Friday: weight training upper body and ab circuit
Sunday: rest day (always on Sundays, unless we have been traveling and I missed workouts)
With my Whole 30, I have noticed my joints are much less sore and achy during and after a workout. I have noticed better energy and the amount of weight I am able to lift has also improved, all from cutting out certain foods and alcohol in my diet. I am loving those non scale victories!
I am no expert and you should definitely consult your doctor before beginning a workout program, especially if you have any health concerns. I am sharing this because I love to know what works well for other people and hearing about their experiences.
A few sites I love to use for lifting routines are:
I am sure there are more sites and plans out there, those are two I have used and have liked in the past.
What are your favorite types of workouts? lifting, running, Zumba, aerobics?
