Skin Care. It seems like everyone is talking about it and with good reason. Your skin is the very foundation for how your makeup will lay and appear. If you take care of it well, your makeup will look its best and most natural. I would encourage you to do your research for your own skin care goals. Here are a few things I have found that work well for me and over the last year I have seen improvement in my skin texture and appearance.
For starters, I remove my makeup every night before I go to bed. I found this article pretty motivating to get into a good habit of removing my makeup, cleansing, toning and moisturizing each night. It might sound like quite a bit, but in actuality, it takes about 5 minutes. I really love the tres leches skin care line and yes, while I do sell it, I have found it has balanced my skin out. It leaves it feeling moisturized but not greasy. I have noticed my redness has reduced, my skin is brighter and has less fine lines. I ran out of my cleanser and toner a while back and was trying to use a my old cleanser but my skin became so dry. Find something that works for you but if you haven’t tried this three step system, I would highly recommend it!
I love using these cloths to remove my makeup. I like to remove my makeup with either these makeup remover wipes or a microfiber cloth. Personally, I love the makeup remover wipes to remove my makeup, mainly to keep my cloths clean. After most of my makeup is removed, I will add a few drops of the cleanser to my hands and massage it into my face. I love using a warm wet microfiber cloth to remove the cleanser and any left over makeup that I didn’t get completely off with the makeup remover wipes. Next I take a little cotton pad and spray one squirt of toner onto the pad and wipe it all over my face. I’ll let it dry for a few seconds and then moisturize with my all time favorite moisturizer. I have used drug store brands and high end brands but this has been my favorite, especially for our dry Nebraska winters!
So that is my basic routine I do every night. I will also occasionally add in this retinol cream BEFORE I moisturize. You want to start with your lightest products and work your way to the heavier products. Retinol Cream will help even out the texture of your skin, tighten your pores, reduce acne breakouts, repair skin damage and help stimulate cell turnover. I really like this particular one because it isn’t drying like some retinol creams can be. I will alternate between retinol cream and this vitamin C serum. Vitamin C serum is supposed to help with collagen production to plump up those fine lines, help reduce UV radiation damage and also fight against free radical damage. It also helps with skin brightness- good bye to dark under eye circles! I use this after I tone but before moisturizer.
I love using this brightening scrub about 3 times a week to exfoliate my skin. There are a few reasons I like to exfoliate my skin often. The first is you have better absorption of your moisturizer and serums. Which if you are spending good money on those, don’t you want them to work to the best of their abilities for you?! I also like to exfoliate because it helps to brighten your skin by removing the dead skin cells and reduce pore size and superficial scars.
I like the tinkle razors or really any eyebrow razors to remove any peach fuzz. If you remove the peach fuzz on your face, it’s a great way to exfoliate your skin (I would do this in place of the brightening scrub) and your makeup will appear much smoother because it will be on your skin instead of the hair. I thought this was a bit crazy the first time I heard it, but then I tried it and it makes such a difference in how your makeup can appear. I do this one time per week or once every two weeks.
The last thing I do is use a weekly facial mask. This one is my favorite and my kids always think I look pretty silly walking around waiting for it to dry. I use apple cider vinegar to mix it and I think the reviews on this speak for itself! I would say be careful putting any extra down your drain as it will cause them to slow. Just scoop any extra into your trash! This container will easily last me 6+ months!
Well, I think that is all for now, but I hope this was helpful and let me know in the comments if you use any of these and how you like them! If you are interested in trying the Maskcara Beauty skin care line, please reach out to me, I would love to help! I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll post again next week!
